Same to Australia. Things used to take 2-4 weeks to get here, now they're arriving within the week. More items seem to have the free postage option too.

I love this, and will unironically use it as a little desktop LLM, but it seems to completely ignore the prompt that’s in the settings. No matter what model I install it’s just “being” the default model. The general idea is awesome though,

Yeah I've been doing this with image-gen AIs pretty much since they started and it's a lot of fun. Even early Dall-E etc was awesome at doing stuff like "Create a colouring in sheet with some dinosaurs having a party" or

Yeah I had so many “adult” words I started to think the author did it on purpose maybe. I statistically definitely shouldn’t have gotten half a dozen words like that when only playing a few rounds. Fun little spin on the game though.

That seems like a lot of marketing effort for “we took an existing font and stretched some bits”?

This is adorably cute, and deceptively fun to follow along with. I particularly like that it shows which monkey discovered a word first, making you want to visit back and see if your monkey found any new words. One thing I'd like to se

This is awesome. I'm no drummer but have always loved percussion in general, so just had a lot of fun playing around. My only tip would probably be a way to click (right-click since left-click is used?) the abbreviation for each instru

Another vote for Pico-8. It’s such an incredible little package. The simple IDE and forced constraints makes you really focus on the basics like fun gameplay loops and minimal graphics, and the fact you can do the code, graphics, sound effe

Flickr has had a resurgence of popularity among photographers since yahoo sold it. It’s easily the best “professional” photo hosting site currently.

I have a dozen or so very random prompts I feed into every new model that are based on things I’m very knowledgeable and passionate about, and compare the outputs. A couple are directly coding related, a couple are “write a few paragraphs e

I switched from Kindle to Kobo and out of the box it would hard-crash within a few minutes of using it, every single time. You have to pry the case off and remove the internal battery hard reboot it. I sent it in, waited 2 months for a repl

I like this. I'm a parent with multiple kids, and absolutely despise getting Facebook invites to birthday parties where I can't even see the invite because I don't have a Facebook account. Meanwhile every family I know uses

That’s an entire hobby, making replicas. It’s only “fake” if you’re trying to convince people they’re real.

It wouldn’t be HN without a comment like this. “Why even use the internet? You can live just fine without it. Pen and paper doesn’t crash like a computer does. Electric lights? Candles are fine.”

At first I thought that was camera noise when I zoomed in, and was wondering why it's so noisy... then realised that's all the stars. Insane.

It’s probably my favorite of the AI features on Apple devices now. My wife and I both have a habit of sending multiple small messages rather than a large one. Probably because we both used IRC extensively on the past and grew up on length-l

I think having it in the homepage title is fine. I do it for most sites I build for exactly this reason. “HardBreak - Open-Source Hardware Hacking Wiki” Looks fine as a title, and helps for embeds/sharing.

I do the same. I don’t even really show anyone my blog but I’ve written to it (or previous iterations of it) on and off for 20 years or so. It’s nearly always just me writing about things I’ve built so I have a diary of my projects, or mini

See if there’s a hackerspace or makerspace near you. Many have regular nights/days where they get together and work on stuff. Our local one does Tuesday nights and Friday days where everyone who’s available comes on and works on projec

I needed some 3D printing filament a few days ago. Shopped around locally and the absolute cheapest was ~$50. Amazon was $17 with next day shipping. The overheads of physical retail stores makes it all but impossible for them to compete wit
