I know this is morbid, but the first thing that popped into my head was tombstone engraving. Maybe it’s because I work in b/w thermal printers all-day every-day reminding me of the limitations of monochrome … and the shortness of life.

Trout are also notorious for only striking food that has more calories than the energy required to strike. It seems obvious … but if you want to catch big trout you must use larger bait or make it … effortless for the fish.

This is awesome. I'm a solo dev and I created an electron app named Label LIVE. I recently added an HTTP API so you can fire off label jobs using a POST request (or retrieve label PNGs via GET). What Label LIVE affords is a WYSIWYG ima

Linux support is often requested in HN comments (but not so much from other users). I'll be sure to post to HN if/when I add it! Printing to DYMO via CUPS should work on macOS/Windows. I just added MDNS/IPP support so an

I use Primera printers for a lot of color label requirements. Epson also makes a line. My app works with both thermal and color printers. Give it a shot and let me know if you have any questions or issues.

It doesn’t work. There’s an authenticity layer to the NFC they’re using. You can scan the rolls with Android NFC readers to get an idea of the tech involved.

It’s worse than anyone thinks. If you look closely at the official DYMO labels sold in recent years the packaging has changed color. The color was DYMO seeding the RFID stock into the market. Once saturated they launched the 550 with RFID.

I’m generally writing drivers for certain USB VIDs (vendors) that all speak the same “language” e.g. Zebra (ZPL), DYMO, Brother, etc. Often their are edge cases for individual USB PIDs (products), and even more granularity based on device s

Supporting USB enumeration and reads/writes to arbitrary endpoints on windows took an act of god, maybe 200-300 hours of work to get it working similar to node-usb (libusb) on macOS (which maybe only took 100 hours). I’m probably under

Which models, specifically? Tape are less supported by the roll-based models. However, Label LIVE can submit PDF-based jobs to any printer installed with a driver. So it might work if the manufacturer drivers work as one would expect (hint:

It's more than just USB, but it's the first that comes to mind. Label LIVE has built-in drivers that talk directly to USB hardware (thermal label printers). The actual "label printer driver" part (talking ZPL, etc) is cr

I believe it for an app that's 100% hitting remote APIs and playing sound. In my case I'm highly dependent on the host OS for about a half-dozen native modules that each have their own ultra-finicky native build environments.
