This sorta feels like a defeatist attitude. "Oh it requires a different sort of a brain" and etc. Not sure I agree nor even would want to agree. It's also insulting to those who do both. I'm trying to do both (still lear

I never said programming was easy. I don't expect nor would want all software engineers to be good at design either. That be ing said, are you building front-facing products (say iOS or a front-end for a web application) you'd be

You want to design on iOS? Hire an engineer familiar with UIKit Mac OS? Appkit Web? JS,CSS & HTML. Etc etc. Basically only hire designers that can write their design. A .PSD isn't much value to you. Then again I'm getting more

Would be cool to know what kind of problems is in hiring? Salaries too high? Too few people? Not enough within 60 miles?

Shameless plug. Here's mine https://github.com/seivan/SHKeyValueObserverBlocks#adding-ob... Comes with bi- and uni-bindings. I like mine better but I wouldn't have done the auto-removal of observers without

It's basically observing properties on NSObject subclassed classes. It doesn't work properly with UIKit, but most other stuff it works 'fine'. According to some smarter people than myself, the internals of KVO is a giant

You probably want to do three things 1) Extract all network layer into its own stuff. We built an SDK recently, and I decided to make three layers out of it. SDK -> OAuth2 -> Networking 2) Separate that 1000 lines of code into several

Yeah I figure, but notice how Apple keep their documentation outside of their interface file. Try that. It makes it easier to learn.

Went through their iOS SDK. What's up with people shoving so much shit into their public facing API (the interface). I don't need all those comments if you could name your selectors properly (which you did) You took a file that co

Why is the assumption I didn't read the article? What's even more curious is that not only do you start with the assumption that I did not read the article, you also go ahead and question yourself wether or not you fully understoo

You don't think the engineers platform specific knowledge will have any impact what so ever? And where do you draw the line between engineering and designing? An engineer can design their design as they go along and iterate on it. Re
