Continuity on iOS 8 / Yosemite will solve some of those issues. But that's if you're in the ecosystem. Play a movie on your laptop, resume on your device when you leave (given there is an app for it)

Wow! I've been saying this ever since I saw the paper pushers at school taking a "fika" break every 15 minutes making us queue for hours just to turn in papers to our teachers. We call those "filfak" in Sweden. The

Same thing applies to most software I write. Strategy, ideas and decisions are from higher ups. Far away from implementation.

I thought Cortana was a brilliant idea, and a nice touch. Halo has served Microsoft very well, it's an extension to that. Just my take on it.

Ruby, Swift, Objective-C and CoffeeScript. But usually separated between projects.

This would be the main attraction for me as well. What kills me at larger places (and even smaller soul-less companies) is the amount of dead weight and inefficiency. Bullshit work created by people with bullshit titles for bullshit reasons

I have a friend who uses it in production. He swears by and has tried to convert me. I'm still sticking to CoreData with some categories for syntax sugar, but I've been closely monitoring realm.io for the last couple of days...

I might be wrong here but I thought 'Hyperlapse' (functionality) was builtin on the iOS 8 Camera app? Am I missing something here?

Or give time nor opportunity to do great success. This is why I appreciate it when a potential employee wants to see tools or code as well.

I noticed the author wrote let emptyArray = String[]() That's actually old, and no longer valid. The current syntax is let emptyArray = [String]()

Swift doesn't have a GC from what I know it has automatic reference counting. It's not really the same thing. It's on compile time and not at run time. It injects release/retain calls between acquiring ownership and reli

Has anyone used this with Django? If it works well I might replace Ruby with Mypy. Doing iOS (with Swift) for a while has made me dislike not having static typing.

Funny how people assume long hours for software engineers is self-inflicted. I take it you guys don't have non engineering managers.

Not sure how serious you are, but this was a directive that came from the top. They take shit from thugs AND from politician trying to score easy points painting the cops as the bad guys.

by seivan 12y ago
Yeah that's Sweden for you. Actually recently the cops have been told not to engage when a crime is occurring, and instead just to take notes. They don't want riots. A week ago a riot occurred in Rinkeby (islamic enclave) when a c

Beats having a manager that has completely no engineering background what so ever. We have those... they are very dangerous.

I wish Leanplum or any other A/B testing service would offer something like this. Or maybe integrate Facebook Tweaks with their SDK with a wrapper on DEBUG for iOS. That way you could still tweak your stuff even after deployment.

Opposite for me. The stuff I write on my own time... I take my time on that. The 9-6 stuff is rushed and designed by others.

Yeah I wanted to say I am not looking for a builder. I just want to visualise how text looks like with those grids. Grids on their own isn't as important as grids with content. Still a great tool though, will come in handy.

by seivan 12y ago
This was really useful, thank you! I've always had a hard time visualising the grids. Is there anyway I can add text, images and buttons? Mostly for testing layouts.

I down voted you for the VC being closer to knowledge work than writing software. Sorry but that is just plain wrong - on both ends. Hen is right that expecting 40 hours out of a software engineer is ridiculous.
