Having your DB server (regardless of type) exposed to the entire internet is a bad idea but that's not the real problem here (it just makes this really scary for people running wide open MongoDB instances). This is a lack of validation of

For version one, JackDB Cloud is more focused on database development, not visualizations or business intelligence. Future releases will have more visualization and reporting features (we're testing out some cool stuff with D3 right now).

It's more of a development environment similar to pgAdmin or Sequel Pro but for multiple types of data sources.

Yes, rlwrap provides GNU readline atop just about anything. When I write my REPL tools (test utilities, etc) I usually wrap them for local use in rlwrap as 99% of the time it's what you want.

Yes the CLI for sql*plus does suck. When I am using it (pretty rare these days) I use rlwrap to make it suck less. Command history is pretty convenient too. Here's my ~/bin/sqlplus shell script pointing to the Oracle instant client install:

We created JackDB[1], a database development client that works in the browser, to solve exactly this problem. We're making a lot of progress with it, including a lower price offering and launching a free tier soon. Check it out, or shoot me

I've been looking for something like this for our product (SaaS database client, shameless plug: http://www.jackdb.com/ ) as security during network transit is obviously a big deal. At the moment there's is no explicit SSL/SSH tunnel so it

Looks interesting... Am I correct in understanding that you guys would be the central party in the VPN? For example if Alice and Bob are both using CryptoSeal Connect then network traffic flows like this? [Alice] <==> CryptoSeal

"Two-factor ... These devices can be expensive ... " This is not true at all (the expensive part). The hardware component for setting up two-factor auth for users is effectively free if your users have smart phones (i.e. Google Authenticato

This is one of the features of Scala I like; explicit types for Option/Some/None in the core language and standard API. It's generally used for return types (ex: a hashmap 'get' will have a return type of Option[ValueType] and return either

Best fix I've found is iterative development. No better way to learn something then to try to directly apply what you're trying to learn. Build it. If it sucks, build it again. Repeat as necessary till it's 'good enough'.

I'm more concerned about the data plan. Pretty sure that the sim card should (that's the whole point of them right?). Just worried that AT&T would remove the unlimited data (i.e. consider it iPhone legacy only).

I'm still on the original grandfathered unlimited iPhone data plan from AT&T. I've upgraded the phone a couple of times (3G -> 4 -> 4S) with no issues but looking into an Android device next. Does anyone have any experience with

Can you add a column that shows if it's available on Netflix/Amazon/etc? I'm always looking for a new way to find movies/series to watch and this list seems like a good one (I seem to agree with most of the ones I've seen near the top).

That's kind of the idea. The hash would be there so the browser could verify it is what is expected. Assuming the source page is delivered via HTTPS (w/ compression disabled :D) then the client could verify the hash against what it received

I'm apprehensive to the idea of a cached version of X for Y based on the hash value (could be secure but assuming eventual collisions in SHA-256 it wouldn't be hard to setup a poisoned copy of a library that would live on for a long time).
