I don't consider the features (or lack thereof) to be nitpicks. They are valid criticisms, but they have had their own very extensive discussions, and we are all very aware of them. Bringing that into a thread regarding a very cool s

Probably the file size argument, last time I read one of these discussions jQuery was 3x bigger gzipped at ~30kb.

It's a repo, it can be forked at any moment if something goes awry. And I don't really think a misguided blog post is 'forcing out one of the biggest nodejs contributors'. I'd rather have nice tools made possible by

Most of the startup community is aimed towards web-centric ideas for obvious reasons -- the gateway to entry is incredibly low. This doesn't mesh well with hardware, and only puts more reliance upon VC's.

I quite enjoy lobste.rs. Despite the lack of discussion, the majority of the topics posted are interesting and turn over pretty fast (in comparison to some of the other replacements).

Shocking! Former Stanford professor doesn't see the same results & progress with remedial state students. The entire concept of MOOC's must be doomed. Basing an entire industry's future off of the shortcomings of one man&

The submissions are nearly identical on any given day. The discussions? Not so much. Not saying HN comment threads are the pinnacle of discourse, but they are an order of magnitude better than proggit's.
