This is a weird line of thinking. Here's a question. If you buy one of these and figure out how to use it to make $100k in 3 months, would that be good? When you run a local model, you shouldn't compare it to to cost of using

Is it? The used data center P40s I bought for $150 2 years ago went back up to $450 a few months ago, I sold one for $400. I just checked and price is down to $200, so I'm still profitable. I bought MI50s for $90 less than a year ag

This is about more. I can run 600B+ models at home. Today I was having a discussion with my wife and we asked ChatGPT a quick question, it refused because it can't generate the result based on race. I tried to prompt it to and it ab

you do realize he has 2 H100s, you would need to buy 2 RTX 6000 Pro for $15-$16k plus the hardware. The ram that came with that hardware is worth more than $7000 now.

It's quite foolish of you to make that assumption. To begin with, with my timezone and when I could get to it, I was starting 12 hrs after the release so the leaderboard was useless. I was writing about it openly on the internet, p

Last year I used LLM to solve AoC, to see how they could keep up, to learn how to steer them and to see how the open models will perform. When I talk about it, quite a bit of "programmers" get upset. Glad to see that Norvig is e

Weird, I have gone local for the last 2 years. I use Chinese models 90% of the time, Kimi K2 Thinking, DeepSeekv3.Terminus, Qwen3 and GLM4.6. I'm not vibe testing it but really putting them to use and they do keep up great.

I have been programming in python since the 90's too. The success IMO is still that it retains the simplicity and CFFI. Moving up TIOBE is more of CFFI and the ecosystem.

It's a real problem with almost all software today, nothing ever gets done. they just keep piling unto it no matter how great it was. the idea of simplicity as a goal and feature is lost on this generation.
