I have multiple disagreements with the article. 1) I think the versioning has value outside of reproducibility and outside cases when multiple people are doing development. As a scientist who started working before git/svn were avai

In my opinion the problem with her messaging is that while she says that we should not fund the next collider, I think the argument should be, what's the best allocation of money in physics? And there are legitimate reasons to have the

First here is the original letter to Nature about new colliders: https://www.nature.com/articles/s41567-020-01054-6 I am certainly a supporter of new colliders, although there are other avenues of constraining particl

It is nice that PG got another storage engine. I hope that will ease the implementation of the column based storage in official PG, as the row based storage is a major problem with very large datasets.

To be honest I just don't understand how what is shown could be legal -- Having a beta software on something that could easily kill, making the drivers/passengers other road users lab rats and beta-testers. I do admire what Musk d

I wanted to implement a feature, like seing the most recent changes time, or fix a bug https://github.com/jgm/gitit/pull/388 and to implement those I had to learn haskell. That wasn't easy... If the sof

As other people noticed, this isn't really a wiki, but attempt to emulate it on github. gitit is a proper git based markdown wiki that we have been using for ~ 8 years. Everything works quite well, except for the fact it is in Haskell.

Presumably one way to deal with this problem is to make the satellite surfaces like stealth planes, i.e. very flat reflective surfaces with sharp angles. In that case the reflections will still happen (and they will be brighter), but they w
