I don't believe I advocated for the use of Cassandra. Owning vs being owned by, we are not arguing about the same things. Stances are not strategies, when we use another's API we form a bond but the the other is free to break it s

Given cloud vendors low respect for their customers, the proper stance is to own your own infrastructure.

I would love someone like gwern [0] to write an analysis of how Mathematics articles on Wikipedia start off being understandable by most and then get lapped into a submicron finish that only reflects an insular subset of folks. These mathem

There are foundational aspects on knowing a component is done, that it will be the same everywhere. What do you think of Nix [1]? The other quality of flexible composable systems is that they can be extended with something akin to an AoP sy

The article was actually posted twice before and I chose to expand PL for exactly that reason, making it more approachable. The article itself is really really good.

Or ideas in general, should we ever gate keep the dissemination of ideas and knowledge? Innovation is more likely to occur when people cross disciplines and they can only do that if it is approachable, it is gradual and discoverable. Simpl

You probably don't want to hear this but you could go the LLVM->Wasm->Wasm2C->GCC route. The Julia folks had resurrected the C backend to LLVM at least once, it is also a possibility.

Riding a bike is hard. It is a lot like swimming, so many motions at the same time. The body has to think it, not the cortex. There is this great smarter everyday segment on a reverse bike. I recommend it for everyone. https://ww

I don't think so, it is clearly a Deno competitor in name and spirit. My first thought was around how languages allow us to choose our tribe and that Go folks couldn't contribute to Deno since it is in Rust, hence Elsa, maybe they
