This is common knowledge for the marketers/analysts that I work with. Have you ever run GA on a high traffic site or app? Google gives you warnings. They're small at first, but when you're really hammering them and aren'

Thanks - I still like the saying, though I'm not sure how to correct it now. To me multiple anecdotes signify a small uncontrolled, non random sample set, that you really shouldn't use to draw conclusions.

Holy hell - I have got to look this guy up. Edit: I did some reading. A lot of sources referenced a very abrasive manner. That could have been a major factor into why his ideas weren't used more.

quote: You can remove the MBA, and it generalizes just fine. agreed - I've worked for MBA's and non MBA's. In my small sample the MBA's have actually been less entitled, but I also know that the multiple of anecdote !=

Interesting. So you're saying that it boils down to being branded as a communist because of the history of the US. I'm Canadian, so the irrational fear of communism/socialism is much lower here. Not that I'm advocating

As an aside, I really dislike the term 99%. By a lot of metrics, I'm in the 1%, as I imagine a lot of engineers are. I think it's really the 99.9%. Being in the 1% top income in the country kind of rings hollow if you still can&#

From your comment I get the sense that Steve might as well be speaking a language you don't understand. I recommend reading this: http://www.ribbonfarm.com/2009/11/11/the-gervais-principle-i...

You should probably cite something to avoid getting downvoted. e.g: http://www.bricklin.com/wontprogram.htm

I think that more importantly they were either run by carriers or crippled by carriers. iPhone changed the whole carrier/manufacturer/customer dynamic for the better (this is coming from a diehard BlackBerry user).

This is awesome. I know what I'm doing with my four year old this weekend. I have been building the triangle bombs with him with paint stir sticks and he loves them.

I live in Waterloo. Toronto dwarfs Waterloo. It's not really close. Don't get me wrong, there is a lot of great stuff going on in Waterloo and I love living here, but Toronto is so much bigger and has so many more opportunities

I wouldn't paint all tipped jobs with the same brush. I used to deliver pizza in high school. I got tips. I lived in a rural area and usually a "good" tip was $1. I had zero choice for jobs. I competed with many other des

This might be the core of the issue. If businesses complain that they can't find any good developers for $60K/year, we say that they should be paid appropriately. I hear a lot about teachers in the states being terrible, and I als

Jesse Jackson said this: “There is nothing more painful to me … than to walk down the street and hear footsteps and start thinking about robbery, then look around and see somebody white and feel relieved.” Does that mean he is a racist?

I don't work in ad engineering, but I do work in marketing/advertising analytics for a major brand. I get contacted by recruiters every week, so I find any talk about a shortage of jobs in this field to be laughable.
