Ubuntu make a proper hardware device and use it to challenge the Mac hegemony? I'm so buying that. Seriously. I've been trying for a decade to get off the Apple crack, and as soon as someone delivers an Ubuntu laptop with as much style

As a recent convert to moai ( http://getmoai.com ), which is a Lua-based cross-platform environment for game development, I have to say this: hogwash. Cross-platform, easy to use, deliverable as a download for offline use, publishable on th

Brilliant! Nice work .. I like the fact that we've got 'typeins' for this already. Just like the good ol' days of waiting for 'new software' to arrive in the mail, in the form of a ZAP magazine or so ..

I've been evaluating moai for a few weeks now and I have to say that it is a bloody brilliant bit of software engineering .. not only does it run smoothly, but its just such a pleasant set of paradigms to learn to build games - no longer do

Me too. I imagine the next iteration of Macbooks will basically be an iPad-formfactor device, albeit with Macbook-scale screen sizes, and a removable/attachable keyboard/trackpad combination, with some variation in the onboard OS that allo

Someone porting their software to OSX/iOS, who doesn't need another computer in the house? In other words: plenty of people will find this useful.

This conflation is happening all over the place .. people don't understand that iOS and OSX are different, it seems. I wonder if this is going to, at some point, work in Apples favour .. ?

I record directly into my Linux DAW (Ardour) through a Presonus Firepod. I don't do "recall and play", I do more "play and play" style music-making, for me the patch recall is not ever as useful as the dynamic process of building new stuff

Have a look at moai: http://getmoai.com/ I've been using it the last few weeks and I think its a bloody brilliant approach to game development. I can't recommend it highly enough for those wanting to build a cross-platform (Android/iOS/

I've been using moai recently, which is a cross-platform Lua-based environment for developing (mostly) 2D style games for Android and iOS, and just last night was talking to a co-developer buddy of mine about the very real possibility that

I've got 1920x1200 on my 2007 MBP, which is the older 'higher resolution screen' option for the MBP, and OSX' resolution dependence is a serious pain in the butt. I've been holding off on upgrading my MBP until some progress is made in thi
