Can the readme file please include information about what this software does and what its goals are? I realize many in this community have probably been following the project, and I vaguely recall seeing it here before, but with all the pr

I appreciate your efforts, but this response doesn't really answer my question. It's too granular (and a bit biased). When I go to your web site, I need some context. I need business problems that this software solves. Based on the name

What does this company actually do? Seems like you need to know a million buzz words, then take a leap, in order to figure out what problems this solves. I'm a health care informatics professional (mostly clinical, not billing) and I can't

> This kind of comment shows how little knowledge you have about NoSQL and SQL. The question is perfectly valid. In many scenarios (not necessarily Stripe's), PostgreSQL is fast enough to do the job. Stop putting people down for legit

Takes a long time to load for me, and it's a bit jerky. I often feel like all these HTML5 effects are not needed to convey the message. (However, it's cool that the videos start playing on the scroll event.)

I think this tutorial is a fine start. I would like to see more like it! I'm coming at this as someone who knows multiple programming languages and would like to get Java and C# under my belt. I'm not exactly a newbie, but I think a few y

Cool project, looks like it's more geared towards remote sync and could be used for more than a DVR. Just curious, why doesn't inotify work? (Because the directory is SSHFS-mounted, right?) Been experimenting with inotify lately which is

I find the style that this is written in to be annoying, distracting, and a little arrogant. It's not funny at all. Just write the facts and let them stand for themselves.

This article offers very little insight. It's just a collection of facts that most everyone knows, rounded out with a liberal dose of narcissistic filler. I really wish these articles didn't make it to the front page.

Like most industries, health care tech can benefit from rapid user-oriented iteration (users = anyone, not just doctors, but doctors are frequently not engaged). Unfortunately the "enterprise" forces and entrenched interests hold this back

This seems like a relatively simple indexing problem to me. Why not just use another data structure to store the association for fast querying?

I use and like Vim, but I feel like the articles that make it to HN all say the same thing ("I had a conversion experience," followed by some configuration details, followed by basic keystrokes, etc). Why does everyone feel the need to re-t

Sites like these always trigger an upswell of nostalgia for me. Looking at these old screenshots I can remember how hip I felt after installing Netscape Communicator and browsing various sites. Perl was the new frontier. The Internet stil

Tonido plug or similar device might be a good option? I'm considering getting one - mostly because (a) it's cool and (b) I have an at times irrational distrust of the cloud.

It seems to be extremely difficult to create enough value in the programming language space to justify a startup. Most of the new languages we're seeing today were bootstrapped by volunteer or hobbyist efforts. Even after these languages

This article reinforces the cost arguments that libertarian types have made for years against expanded subway/rail. Not even counting the regulatory hurdles buses are easier to get "moving."
