The public doesn't care about the code itself, they absolutely care about the quality and experience of using the software. But you can have an extremely well designed product that functions flawlessly from the perspective of the user

I find most developers fall into one of two camps: 1. You treat your code as a means to an end to make a product for a user. 2. You treat the code itself as your craft, with the product being a vector for your craft. The people who typicall

Some of these really don't make sense. The implication that Cursor is a fraudulent company is a little weird considering they actually have real users. Like sure, is it a VS code fork with agents stapled to it? Yes. But are they on the

The Drug App - a CAD for drug design. It's focused on structural analysis right now, but the goal is to allow for biologists, crystallographers, chemists, etc to quickly analyze large samples of structural data for patterns and find wh

I really don't think the analysis here is that credible. People aren't leaving existing SaaS for AI agentic platforms like this article implies. Switching costs are too high even outside of tech, the problem runs deeper than that.

I'm getting flashbacks from my computer engineering curriculum. Probably the first place I'd start is replacing comparison operators on the ALU with binary arithmetic since it's much faster than branch logic. Next would proba

The only time FPGAs / ASICS are better is if there's gains we can make by innovating on the hardware architecture itself. That's pretty hard to do considering GPUs are already heavily optimized for this use case.

Great write up, we're working on a drug discovery CAD tool and MD has been one of our focal points. Extremely challenging and fun problem to work on! What complicates things is the experimental data we get back from labs to validate MD

Same! I run the engineering department for a medium sized software consultancy, we're on contract with several large enterprises. In terms of output, we run circles around their internal delivery teams. Not because our engineers are be

Seems like they're protecting themselves from the current administration. Wonder if they'll say anything on this or if they're hoping it slides under the radar.

God I remember having to deal with F# when I was an intern, what a nightmare. It's like the worst parts of Java and C# smashed into one esoteric language.

I think when they bring up differential amplifiers they're referring more to the DSP technique of how headphone noise cancelling works but the actual electrical properties of how a differential amplifier does that muddies the message a

It sounds like they're just splitting the query / key space down the middle. We don't know which dimensions are encoded in each matrix, but they're assuming the "noise" introduced in one query / key space
