The 'postulating' a bunch of axioms is how Math is taught.. Eventually you go on to prove those axioms in higher math. Whether there are more fundamental axioms is always a bit of a question.

Why Otel compared to prometheus+syslog+(favorite way to do request tagging, eg: MDC in slf4j)+grep? Syslog is kinda a pain, but it's an hour of work and log aggregation is set up. Is the difference the pain of doing simple things with

I agree with most of your points. Though with respect lasting change, where is your impression coming from that the gains are in the last 10 to 15 years? Or even that is a widespread belief? According to reporting at the guardian [1], FBs D

Human vision works this way. To fix the latency problem (actual event hff happening vs signal transmitted to your brain) human vision is constantly predicting what you should see, your brain tells you that is what you saw (the prediction),

How do you distinguish partisans from actual knowledge? The Steve Bannon philosophy of flood the zone with shit so it all looks the same seems to have killed public discourse IMO. It is easy to label everyone as partisans. To your questions

Touring is from French. Means to go around and about. "Tour" is short for "Tour a velo", which is to travel on a bike. It encompasses short & long trips. Touring vs bikepacking being distinct I think is an anglicism,

'Touring' is a superset, it just means to go around and about on a bike. It comes from French. It's very old. Touring encompasses many different trip types. All bikepacking is touring. Not all touring is bikepacking.

Apparently bike-touring was called bikepacking by the old timers in the 70s. Somewhere along the way it turned into touring. Then got misappropriated to mean road vs dirt. Bikepacking is any kind of bike riding where you've got your &q

LLMs create models, not algorithms. An algorithm is a rote sequence if steps to accomplish a task. The following is an algorithm: - plug in input to model - say yes if result is positive, else say no LLMs use models, the model is not an alg
