I actually feel like AS3 could go further with static typing. Due to things like promotions with arithmetic operators, you lose some performance. I always felt it would be better to either force the user to explicitly cast between floatin

I suppose we all love the game of conjecture though. It is certainly a favorite past time of many.

Very true. Adobe was betting hard on the idea that they could sell AS3 like syntax as the new ECMA standard.

There was a point where Adobe had a chance to evolve flash into a platform for creating HTML sites and applications (much like coffeescript, LESS, or any other intermediate might be). It certainly would have involved open sourcing large co

For all that is wrong with flash as a platform, I have always found Actionscript 3 to be a far better structured and easy to work with language, compared to something like javascript, which has a very 'organic' structure. I can&#x

Despite California being at will, in order to cover yourself legally, you still need to have a documented history of a persons inability to perform in order to terminate them. If you don't, you are still opening yourself up for a wron

I couldn't agree with your sentiment more. A great antidote to having to fire quickly, is to be better at hiring effectively (a task much easier said than done). Most of us at startups, being driven by younger people that have not ha

I really like duck duck go. I just wish they would register ddg.cm so I don't have to type out the whole url. I would register it myself and forward it if it wasn't for the fact that cm registrations cost nearly 100 dollars.

As far as I can surmise, the reason that the Bolivian president complied was due to the fact that had he not, it would at the very least, be seen as an act of aggression, and could possibly be seen as much more. Though they wouldn't th

This is potentially great news for anyone using a browser. Let's hope that the implementation is close to spec, and makes for a relatively seamless experience across all browsers.

These kind of actions on the part of existing taxi and limo services are to be expected. When a large and powerful group can't win on merit or the quality of their product, they will attempt to win through any other means, including l

This is essentially the same system, but with a middle man. It may obfuscate some of the players involved, but it doesn't solve the issue that you are still disclosing information due to the pre-agreed context of the conversation.

Within the construct of the US government, these type of gag orders are legally valid at this point in time. Whether they should be is another matter all together, but given precedent, the assumption that they are valid is rational.
