In incognito mode, the FileSystem API is disabled, so anyone can tell you are in incognito mode by checking it Bloomberg actually has the best paywall fingerprinting in the business. Using a new browser won't help either

I don't like it. I thought the old layout was pretty much perfect, no need to change anything.

Seems strange that they didn't include a fan... I bought a $300 ASUS laptop a while ago, and it runs surprisingly well. In my opinion, the best 'budget' price range is 300 - 400, less than that will be too bad

You are concerned about Google having "access" to network traffic, but you have no concerns about putting TeamViewer on someone else's machine?

And the majority opinion is basically: if you fire a male employee for being with another man, its not a sexual orientation issue since the basis for your firing is that the employee is male. Thus, all protections apply

And the question you should ask is, does HSBC actually need to preserve snapshot isolation when set at the highest consistency level? If the answer is no, then your comment is irrelevant.

That doesn't answer the question. You never should have to block the UI thread. That's just poor application design, independent of the file format; you cannot blame that on SQLite.

It's funny you use that as an example, since Firefox itself uses SQLite as the application file format for history and bookmarks...

> if your program or computer dies half way, your file is hosed Doesn't this apply to writing files in general? It's not unique to SQLite... Edit: Nope, SQLite is designed to be protected against crashes, even OS crashes.

If you need sharding and replication, just use a different database. SQLite is not intended to solve those problems. As for high-availability, isn't a single file on your disk the most available thing there is? :)

No, Google's scraping is opt-out only, which they offer to be friendly. Google does not need anyone's permission to scrape publicly accessible data, and they are not required to follow any opt-out requests.

You don't have freedom of speech protections against your private employer. You only have protection against government action. And there is no government action in this story.
