Not just that, a lot of computer can't even display it correctly. Maybe twitter could auto-replace it with a small image of the sign, but that might break some twitter applications.

I guess for most people it's not the money, but the feeling of accomplishment and the sense of community - teaming up to achieve a bigger goal. I doubt that sweatshops would do this - they are busy breaking captchas and mining gold in WoW.

Funniest thing are the charts (particularly the one at 38:00). While they are probably as accurate as 90% of the charts from other presentations, the "hand made"-esthetics reflect the randomness pretty well.
