Those daylight backlight upgrade kits are nice. We boat nerds always lust after stuff like that, because we like to take computers out in the sun (and rain and airborne saltwater) and this is one of the key parts for doing that.

Does the power requirement change between USB 2.0 and USB 3? If not, I don't see why more power would change anything. I also don't think a power problem on an attached USB device should give my computer a kernel panic.

I have some short USB 2.0 extension cables that I use to plug between the Macbook and USB 3 devices - to reduce them to USB 2.0. Because if I for example try to copy more than a few MB to a USB 3 external HD, the Mac freezes. Every single t

I always wonder about that when people talk about these things. I think the reason is that Keychain Access isn't well advertised and a bit obscure, so most people are simply not aware that there is already a thing that does that on eve

Yes please. In fact, let it be a preference if I even wish to buffer that stuff, rather than just not autoplay it. Because, being mostly on low-bandwidth, metered or very crappy connections, I almost certainly do not want several dozen MB o

I certainly didn't want this, but it seems we've had it for some time now. And I see no reason to celebrate winning back a small, limited exception from an unjust law that should never have existed.

Meh. A bunch of silly gimmicks. Meanwhile, drag & drop still randomly breaks in Finder, using certain USB 3.0 devices on my mid 2012 MBP causes reproducible kernel panics and Mail.app occasionally crashes while downloading emails. Maybe

Telling "non tech saavy guys" to pipe URLs into their shell (or hosts file in this instance) is a pretty bad idea. You're training them to engage in risky behaviour and be even more gullible.
