I do the same. Code is cheap - try it, see if it works, if it doesn’t completely throw it away. LLMs and agents get into doom loops and keep making the situation worse if it’s not going well from the outset. Usually if you’re engaged you ca

Yeah I agree with you, and I think a lot of people feel the same. It's totally different now and it's not what I signed up for. Maybe I'll get used to it, idk. I hope everything works out well for you.

Yeah, maybe empathise was the wrong word. I certainly empathise with the feelings, I just struggle to see how people cannot use it to get more done. I'm also daydreaming about other careers instead of doing something useful.

Oh, I agree entirely. The new paradigm is entirely unsatisfying to me too. It's not the same work that I trained my entire life to get good at, and the new work is not as fun. I trained to get good at this work because I just loved it

That was deliberate. Some people report that it slows them down - fine.

I think… sort of. I feel like you’re trying to force some sort of binary here, but I’m trying to say that you may choose not to gamble in general, on day X, but find that you do gamble later. In fact I would say that many gambling addicts h

If you were friends with an alcoholic it would be pretty shitty to give them a bottle of vodka for their birthday. People are not machines, it’s not as simple as deciding whether to do something or not. You have stronger and weaker days. Te

It just seems weird to me to throw all these stats together. Putting 75GB of logs in the same category as managing the compute for this many parallel workflows and so on seem like problems on totally different scales. Unfortunately I didn’t

I'm familiar with the subject matter. I'm not familiar with the author. I love classical music. I've been singing in a choir since I was 7, playing the piano since the same age, and compose music myself ( https://yo

Not sure what you're trying to say. I'm not arguing from authority. I'm just a guy giving my opinion. That's what comment sections are for.

I’m British so I guess the equivalent would be Radio 4. But no, not really tbh. I just find what I want and listen to it. I know some people really like Radio 4 though.

Probably 50% of my listening is classical. If I want to listen to classical I just listen to albums. I’ve never had a problem with this. The concept of a DJ for classical music is just kind of weird.

The Spotify DJ feature is terrible, I agree. That doesn’t mean I find the linked article compelling.

What a strange article, from somebody who should understand the underlying technology (click on the “books” tab - the author is a technologist). This is not about AI, the author is mostly just pointing out that Spotify was not designed for

You really can't model these 5 data points with a linear regression or a step function. The models are of different sizes / use cases, and from two different labs. I feel like what we've observed generally is that different l

The problem is: the structure of LLM outputs generally make everything sound profound. It’s very hard to understand quickly whether a comment has actual signal or it’s just well written bullshit. And because the cost of generating the comme

I had a hunch that this comment was LLM-generated, and the last paragraph confirmed it. Kudos for managing to get so many upvotes though. "Where most [X] [Y]" is an up and coming LLM trope, which seems to have surfaced fairly rece

If this can be taken at face value... it's creepy. I get that they're doing it for the meme. But perhaps something getting close to human intelligence, made out of human cells, shouldn't be forced to play a violent video game

I agree. I've got more lazy over time too. But the cost of creating code is so cheap... it's now less important to be perfect the first time the code hits prod (application dependant). It can be rewritten from scratch in no time.
