The premium version has an automatic tax estimation feature which shows a breakdown of estimates for each year in the sim, but it is US-specific at the moment.

Thanks so much! And yeah I took a lot of that feedback to heart, and have been working hard to make improvements in many aspects and communicate more clearly about things like data storage and where calculations happen (i.e. client side). F

Good point. In addition to customizable income tax brackets, another idea I've been mulling over is a custom investment type with more controls to model a wider variety of investment vehicles. Perhaps I could add more templates as well

Do you think it would help if I make a "sandbox mode" where you can skip onboarding and plan creation and jump straight into a scenario pre-configured to model one of several selectable templates / personas? That's somet

Thanks for the thoughtful feedback. It's great to see that you tested out the probabilistic planning mode enough to identify ideas like this that would further enhance it. In fact, some of these things like being able to inject "s

Extending the tool to accommodate planning for businesses sounds like an interesting prospect, though I'll be the first to admit I know less about the nuances there than in the personal finance domain. I'll take a note to do some

Thanks, I'll be interested to hear what you think of the new version. And if you have further ideas/suggestions to continue improving/generalizing things for international use cases, just let me know!

I had trouble finding a good FI planning and simulation tool that could model things in enough detail to finally ditch my spreadsheets... so I decided to build one: ProjectiFi https://projectifi.io/ A while back I posted a

Yeah, it's understandable for sure. Personally though, I find overcoming the technical obstacles and the general process of incrementally crafting a better and more perfect thing to be an addicting cycle.. perhaps reinforced by the fea

The trend of software engineers starting and not finishing their creative projects has always been interesting to me, as I tend to err in the opposite direction -- for most of my projects, I get this compulsion to carry them to the finish l

I think due to South Dakota v. Wayfair, states now have more power to define what constitutes "nexus"... so there are all these special rules and thresholds now to keep track of (different for every state) that define whether you

Last time I looked into this, it seemed to me like in the US you would need a separate license for each state you collect sales tax in (before collecting any tax)... and naturally, each state has a different licensing process, and some char

With this new Stripe solution, do you still have to register for licenses to collect tax everywhere and remit the sales tax to various US states and foreign governments? Unless I misunderstand, that still sounds prohibitively onerous for an

Thanks for the suggestion! I could certainly show debt as negative, similar to that stacked column chart. Do you think that would be more intuitive? Or would people get confused and think they have "negative debt" or something?
