Out of the box running strings on stuff shows the 1984-1985 AT&T-IS 1985-1987 UniSoft Corporation strings. So it's got to be PCC. The F77 credits Apple, Adobe, AT&T-IS, Motorola, SUN, CSRG, and Unisoft. In the A/UX 0.7 bui

Have you ever played with this: https://macintoshgarden.org/apps/aux-apple-unix-68k-version-... I found it interesting that it mentions both ‘Milwaukee‘, and Cayman "brac" ... Here on the Jasmine 80. Seems li

Milwaukee is mentioned in the A/UX 0.7 build, so I was wondering if it was more 'BigMac' or something else entirely. It's a shame more of this is buried in legend.

Apple bough a port of UniSoft SYSVr2 to the Apple platoform and dubbed it A/UX. Version 2 onward were technically significant as ToolBox and Finder had been ported to Unix and allowed MacOS apps to run on top of Unix. They didn'

also Qemu is mainlining Quadra 800 support for 3.0.1 https://www.emaculation.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=11326 On a test of compiling about 4MB of source code, Qemu is 7x faster than Shoebill!

more so the platform + the OS... I guess being in for 4k for a base machine (probably 2k more to make it usable) 500/1000 more isn't going to break it, but 386BSD machines while far less usable would be a heck of a lot cheaper.

Xenix dev tools can produce x86 real mode objects. Some dev kits even have the full linker and libraries. The original Microsoft C for the 386 was a Xenix product although the OS/2 1632 cross compiler was certainly around in 1991 when

Canadian schools are pure trash. The only people surprised by all of this are as always Canadians. They treated left handed people pretty shitty too but luckily they didn’t get the chance to send us to concentration camps to die. I’m defin

Put your sensitive data on other people’s servers and this happens. If people cared they’d host it inside, on the other hand, that would mean being responsible for your own data which is not a popular idea these days

Interestingly no copies of GCC 1.0 survived. Oddly enough 0.9 survived but 1.0 to 1.20 are all missing. You would have thought stuff like that would have had historical significance when new but so much of early FSF is lost.
