" ..hate ai..." Bad framing and worse argument. It's emotional. Every engineer here is evaluating what ai claims it can do as pronounced by ceos and managers (not expert in software dev) v reality. Follow the money.

In short one anthem for the US ought to be: competence is back. Know how matters. Like others report uni profs made me better. Wherever my English prof is at ... thanks a ton! Leadership, caring, and know how. You were marvelous.

I agree completely with your idea of marketing totally: its getting customers to yes before you know their name: Funny example: Futurama's Fry goes to the eye-phone store and pulls out wads of cash and yells at the cashier. First two s

Not in the US... have you seen the first or second Shrek movie where a monster busts in on a Starbucks and all the scared customers run across the street to another Starbucks? Like a virus they're everywhere. Same thing for atm machine

Agree. I have repeatedly said one mangement fundamental is control is commensurate to accountability. Thereafter, what you write deals with increasing control or decreasing depending on outcomes. I also agree with point about canning or dem

I'm saying china makes better decisions; i don't think it would start a war with a snowballs chance of winning convincingly. Second, China is not motivated (apart from taiwan) to invade. Russia is because it's fragile, scared

Emphasing with the individual has merit, but on balance has the wrong framing. It's the org the individual is in that's the real problem. I'd tell the fbi. Being a nice guy is counter-indicated here. The other side certainly

@yubblegum nails it - well written. I might add a couple of things: - China had a free look at what Japan did so well 70s-90s - China had a free look at Russia and most definitely did not repeat their mistakes economically. Russia ought to

Agree. We want the engineering equivalent to what the doj was doing pre-trump: if we have something important to say it'll be done in court with evidence in a formal process. In engineering we want a paper, data, and code. The rest is

American CEOs spend most of their time in sales, marketing, a kind of corporate hustle. I agree: stop taking them so damn seriously.

A currency needs to have a fairly constant value, goods/services priced in currency, and payment accepted in same. No crypto meets that definition. I'll say the same thing another way: if miners or other crypto enthusiasts thought

A software dev simply cannot afford to say "I just do technical" which I've heard numerous times. The sad reality is --- apart from small companies and ms/phd research which likely comes with more insulation --- organiza

I recently left a c# shop in finance. My background c/c++. I was very interested to see if c# was less work: easier to write and build. I was not impressed by what I saw - it was junk code. One of the major errors was writing apps as M

It's not done by competent presidents. Trump is incompetent. Feds mind their own business except for doj, fbi, sec, fina who have evidence of wrong doing.

I like this point. Maybe needs pci4 + large vram + mid line gpu + cheap cpu. The cpu could maybe go scatter/gather/atomics like nics so getting data into and out of gpu is offloaded from the mb cpus doing app work.

I like your points a bunch. Now what needs some emphasis is customer satisfaction. Usually in near monopoly situations customers hang on longer than might otherwise be natural. They get disaffected first, and then after another 3-7 years it
