Hm, so is this app running and listening in to the mic constantly? (Also: Extra network traffic and cpu activity.)

Well, should it? It's a neat idea. But what exactly is the big deal being patented here? It's pretty trivial. To me it seems that it's a bit like patenting flappy bird.

The world wide web. Off topic, but I think we tend to forget that most legislation affects websites. Nothing keeps you from writing your own version of DNS, your own protocol (who says it has to be HTTP) etc. That's the beauty of TCP&#

It's just that truecrypt.org forwards to this URL where you are warned not to use it: http://truecrypt.sourceforge.net It's confusing and worrying as it's a pretty mainstream tool. (I wouldn't install anythin

I believe in fundamentals. Just don't post anything online, unless you're certain you want to. Do not post pictures. Don't use social networks and cloud services. Your life won't get THAT much harder if Google Maps canno

That's why I wonder why some European countries have voted more right-wing parties. [1] (Most of the voters being employees, too.) More capitalism and less welfare cannot be the solution, because aside from the moral obligations [2] th

Is it possible to block all that crap using the hosts file? It would block on all browsers that way. Or would it be way too long?

Yep, it's likely they have some "public opinion making" going on. After all psychology teaches us that people look to other people first to find out what to think and do. These guys spoiled the Internet.

Of course. They should suffer the loss of ALL their users if you ask me. If anyone here is still using Skype, I wonder what kind of community this is and what kind of future we are building..

In principle you are right. But there's weird errors then and now, which I don't want to investigate. There's annoyance with having self-signed certificates. Adding new users. Not to mention spam and, so far not an issue, get

First impression after reading across the docs: Compact, fast, seems to contain most important things. I like it.

If it made it harder for non-state adversaries to create profiles about you, it would still be a good thing. I don't want the Gov. to know about my private life. But neither do I want any search engine, online store or ISP to have that
