To be clear, I wasn't dunking on Modular. I meant it more as praise for what Astral has achieved. Lattner is a veteran and Mojo seems to be coming along at a good pace. Mojo is admittedly more of a Rust-competitor. Couldn't think

Even after all the praise, I'd say they're underrated. Modular.ai raised $100 million to solve tangentially similar problems with python. Astral has already had a much larger impact, while providing better integration with less th

Israel did want peace with Gaza (Gaza specifically, not West Bank). After the 2005 Gaza disengagement, Israel did a lot to normalize relations with Gaza. They wanted peace until they gave up all attempts to do so, after October 7th. Peace i

India wants peace. A peaceful India threatens Pakistan's entire existence as a military state. Therefore, Pakistan keeps instigating with outrageously cruel terrorist attacks. There are no strategic goals here. Either side may recover

In defense of democracy, this issue was less prevalent until the last 30 years. You don't need everyone to agree on things in a democracy. The issue is lack of leadership and unclear power hierarchy (who matters- house, senate, preside

In practice, it turns out not to be true. I am speaking for the US which I know better. Many environment protections are farcical. (SJ earthworm fiasco). Many building regulations are intentionally difficult with little added safety (2 fire

Chinese housing demand is a unique beast. Chinese citizens do not see stocks as a stable investment, so housing becomes the main type of investment. Housing domicile rules (Hukou system) give special rights to homeowners which incentivizes

That's the issue. You can't mitigate it. Especially when even the lowest hanging fruits (eg: protected bike lines) face similar opposition as any radical change. America already bulldozed through walkable streetcar towns for cars

I disagree. Zombie-town is a valid insult for the state of certain SF neighborhoods. Yes, opponents love exaggerating the geographical extent of this crisis. But, it is that dire in the worst hotspots. Unfortunately, these hotspots also hap

OP, you're selling your tool to the wrong people. HN is not the crowd. This is for core-engineers who want to get value out of coding. Find people who pay the $1000/yr to use 1 tool in Matlab, and start pulling them away.
