Definitely, but Siri is terrible at understanding quiet speech and you have to hold your phone/watch right up to your mouth. A ring is definitely a much nicer form factor for that.

what safety measures does this have to avoid some incident (held down button, software bug, etc) draining the entire battery within a few hours, thus bricking the device?

Yeah, I have to wonder what lead them to these color choices. Not sure why they wouldn't include a white option or any other good neutral colors that actually go with silver and gold. And I think the number of people willing to wear a

personally, i worry about what happens when it doesn't last for years. a software bug causes high power draw, or you set your ring down and something gets pushed against the recording button for a few hours, or you fall asleep laying o

i would also see this as being super useful for things you need to buy. i often notice halfway through cooking something that i'm running low on an ingredient. that's one of the worst times to have to stop and pull out a phone hah

Yeah, there's lots of places you can't speak out loud bc it's disruptive to others though. Personally I set a lot of Siri reminders, but it's weird and uncomfortable to talk loudly at your phone in public spaces so I can

From my reading, the conditions seem to apply to the environment it primarily operates in, not the product itself. So the product primarily operates in the environment of the hand, and the hand is definitely "regularly subject to splas

You do realize that not everybody has the same symptoms right? Many people with OCD may struggle with tests but can do just fine in the real world. Tests aren't at all representative of real jobs.

FWIW, consider that some of these students may need the accommodation specifically because of the pressure of the final exam. Many mental health disabilities will become worse with stress. A low stress environment and a high stress final ex

This is not what they're describing. Have you ever gone through the process of receiving an accommodation at a university? It is significantly more challenging than just having a diagnosis. They will look for every single possible excu

Damn, that's an impressively well-done attack. Curious, do you use a password manager? If so, did it not autofilling feel like a red flag to you? I've always wondered if I ever get phished if I'll notice bc of that or if I&#x

I believe the rumor is that 76 degrees is slightly uncomfortable enough to look at that it makes you want to adjust the screen, which in turn makes you more likely to try the device.

wait but then why bother with this PoW system at all? if they're just trying to block anyone without JS that's way easier and doesn't require slowing things down for end users on old devices.

lmfao so that kinda defeats the entire point of this project if they have to resort to a manual IP blocklist anyways

Yeah agreed with AI being irrelevant. I most mention that to explain that rather than just hosting costs, there are additional costs for model inference that make it a lot harder to break even. I'm fine with little to no profit as long

See that's my challenge! Very well put. I see a lot of influencers bragging about mini SaaS apps being profitable but I don't know if I really see how. I'm more interested in multi-use simple tools. For example, an app that s

I wonder if it benefits because it can attend to individual tokens of the prompt while generating, compared to typical diffusion models that just get a static vector embedding of the prompt.

No, because it is far more expensive to domestically produce our own products. I would rather not have a huge increase in the cost of living.

IMO the operator error is seeing an error code in a safety critical system and simply choosing to ignore it because it happens too often.

Ooh, that looks wonderful for future projects, but sadly my current one isn't targeted at devs. Quick question, have you used it for side projects before, and if so how was your experience? It might be nice to try to launch a side proj

That's the hard choice for me tbh, you explained it very well. Currently the operating costs are $0 since it's hosted entirely on Vercel's free tier, so my hope is mainly just to justify me spending a few hours a month improv
