Anyone else in the UK unable to access ncbi.nlm.nih.gov? I couldn’t access it yesterday either.

It probably isn’t for mice. They always have a much higher mg/kg value. 100mg/kg is ~4–5mg for a mouse.

Hopefully Facebook has learned by now that conservative media will whine about anything. You can’t win with them.

Not sure about this one, but in other studies they’ve used drugs like methylphenidate.

Take a look at the Github repo for the package. Does it look well-maintained? How much does it add to your bundle size? [1] An acceptable amount? Then use the package. 1. https://bundlephobia.com/

Sure but the proposed syntax is much cleaner and expressive imo.

Oops, you're right. I was confusing the proposal with how it works in Elixir. I really like the partial application example from your source: let newScore = person.score |> double |> add(7, ?) |> boundScore(0,

That gives it a huge disadvantage over just using the pipe operator, particularly with standard functions: const pow = x => y => Math.pow(x, y); pipe(2, pow(5), square); compared to just: 2 |> Math.pow(5) |> square

How would you add extra arguments to a function with your method?

The code loops through an array, has side effects and returns nothing so forEach would be more descriptive IMO. As for simple/readable it’s the same code but s/map/forEach.

These days I’m extremely skeptical of recently created accounts whose only comments are political and two of which bash journalists.

You would limit your kids’ internet access to dial-up speeds? That’s a little ridiculous. Would you make them walk to school uphill both ways in the snow too? Kids don’t have to have their parents’ exact childhood experiences to properly gr

That stripping-away of context is a common effect. I find it fascinating. It allows you to view things with fewer of your own biases and default thought patterns coloring your perception.

What would you gain by storing the commit in the lock file? You can reference commits in package.json already.

My problem is that every JS-framework story on HN is full of comments either a) showing a lack of understanding of the tech like the parent, or b) bringing up "fundamental issues" with SPAs which are either nonexistent or long-sol

I understand the joke but JS isn't a framework, it's a language. "No framework" generally means "poorly-written custom framework". Do you have any code samples to share from your vanilla JS apps?

You should learn React and build a simple project with it to understand its real value, which is component-based architecture. React will likely be around longer than/as long as any framework, but whatever replaces it will use a lot of

I feel like a lot of HN is stuck in 2010 and dislikes all of this new web tech because they don’t understand it. This comment is a prime example.

I just glanced at that repo and what you say is not quite true. Looks like they have to reimplement the entire DOM API with JS interop: pub fn document() -> Document { unsafe { js!( return document; ).into_reference_unchecked() }
