It’s not about whether they pay out, large enough customers demand you have insurance as a condition of sale. It’s cover your arse all the way down!

No, thats not correct. Value and reference assignment behave the same way for = (well, reference is hiding the fact that it’s not the literal string/object but a reference to it, a number is just the number). Where it matters is in pas

I’ve answered this here https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=40965857 There’s plenty of amateur footballers more skilful than professionals, yet can’t make it because they lack the physical attributes (speed/strength&#

That’s why you have a deferred revenue report. You divide the income across the length of the contract so you “earn” each month as it comes. This can help prevent you overspending on contract delivery because you can see your numbers go red

Yep, this is what deferred revenue reports are for. I’ve seen a business skirt close to the edge because they didn’t respect what it was showing until it was almost too late.

I honestly never understand partial refunds for cancellations (outside of money back guarantees). As a customer, you’re committing for a year to get a discount. If you can cancel at any time and get that money back, why are they getting a d

> he said less in comparison with other professional sports. No, we’re taking umbrage with the fact that people are saying cycling requires less skill, when this simply isn’t true. It requires different skills, that’s all.

You inhale less CO and other pollutants on a bicycle than you do in a car. I don’t have the study to hand but this has definitely been measured.

Only someone who’s never cycled quickly could say there’s less skill involved. Try riding down the side of a mountain at 50mph and follow up your post.

Couple of things: I’m not sure this is dangerous, per se, as long as the dosage is measured. As you learn in school, CO is only poisonous because it replaces oxygen in your blood. There’s no negative long term effects as long as the dose ne

I would have thought so but I’m not a lawyer. The article suggests DMCA is intended for direct copies so that’s why it failed here. Maybe more general copyright laws would apply for lossy copies.

But isn’t that the same as memorising it and rewriting the implementation from memory? I’m sure “it wasn’t an exact reproduction” is not much of a defence.

Ok I read the article and it looks like the issue is the DMCA specifically, which require the code to be more identical than is presented. I’m guessing separate claims could still come from other copyright laws?

While correct, the example given is that they COPY the code, then make adjustments to hide the fact. I suspect this is still a copyright violation. It’s interesting that a judge sees it differently when it’s just run through a programme. I’

Different people need a different analogy to absorb the same information. Because of this, the more people writing these practices down from a different viewpoint, the more likely another person is influenced and improves their craft.

In which case, I’d look at the documentation that companies put out for SSO to get a feel for the types of issues your customers will face. Make sure your system logs everything (or pay Auth0) and provide this as a feature. It’ll cut down a
