This is the story I’ve heard about almost every react native project. Get to proof of concept 10x faster. Spend 10x more time in the weeds on weird bugs.

Buying physical media you have the right to resell that one physical copy. Libraries pay extra fees for lending. In both cases only 1 person can use that copy at a given time, and the artist is paid for each copy. Downloading rips where tho

Maybe but it shouldn’t be that big of a difference. M series processors are very energy efficient. Minis aren’t that expensive. Note: 10x is the multiplier for GitHub actions. So maybe I’m wrong but I’m guessing it’s more capacity than cost

Also: choose a platform that pays artists more. Apple and tidal pay out much more per stream than YouTube/spotify. But any form of paying is much much much better than piracy.

For GitHub and most other companies running racks of macOS, the use case is testing/building macOS/iOS software. Even if you could build the stack you describe, I wouldn’t want my tests/builds running on a hackintosh build wi

There are a bunch of those out there. They abstract out the frameworks, and end up with scaffolding systems on top you need to learn (so they can update core without impacting your project). Which is fine if that's what you want. This

No monetization goal here. I needed it myself for another project, so built it and open sourced it. Hopefully folks find it useful; if it drives a bit of traffic to the sponsor project ( https://criticalmoments.io ), all the bette

Phi-2 and TinyLlama are so so so impressive for being < 3B parameter models. They can run on a phone, and are pretty snappy. Benchmarks: https://github.com/ggerganov/llama.cpp/discussions/4508 I don't

Not sure what you're referring to. The parent comment specifically mentioned iPhones, waterproofing (not a Mac feature), losing headphone jack (not true of Macs). I was clarifying this article is about Macs, not iPhones.

+1 I connect to mine over tailscale DNS. I recommend adding a tray icon that disables it for 60 seconds (super helpful for the odd site that serves something critical from an ads domain… like my bank). Only downside is apps don’t have to us

Yup. And good bump in single core performance, which you'll notice for most use cases. So really mid level part beats top tier part from last generation.

Exactly. Good to know I didn’t miss a trade off in the mix. If I’m choosing to use a C framework (SQLite) I’m okay signing up for the environment costs. Prefer that over abstractions in an intermediate layer that might not be maintained in

What’s the case against cgo for SQLite? Just the usual cgo performance overhead? It seems like a pretty good cgo use case: a decent amount of work, which is typically slow enough that cgo overhead isn’t perf critical (because DB usually mea
