Too much choice I think. "0to255 is a simple tool that helps web _designers_ find variations of any color." Designers already have offline tools to explore full color spectra. Tools that turn color theory into recommendation algorithms are

Is there an implication that all this optimization could be merged into PHP core? PHP's appeal is ubiquitous support. Even if it is open-sourced, I can't imagine a bunch of hosting companies suddenly serving Facebook-flavored PHP.

Even though this technique is primitive, how would you say it compares to the techniques used by run-of-the-mill comment spammers to identify and exploit outdated installations? Are most of them stopping at meta generator?

Agreed. This layout felt so refreshing when it was on the frontpage earlier: http://evhead.com/ Body copy is 16px on the homepage, 17px on post pages.

Ugh, I'd much prefer that to all the dehumanizing and paranoia that is present-day air travel. Knock me out and send me FedEx, please. Probably takes about as long to recover from a horse tranquilizer as it does from plain ol' jet lag.

Contextual private messaging. Many threads on HN and elsewhere get burdened by 1:1 dialog that adds little or no public value. "Why am I being downvoted?" dialogs are one example. I propose adding a "reply privately" function. A private rep

If public meta-commenting is the issue, and assuming the comment isn't an outright troll, it'd be nice to know who took issue with it, and be able to ask why privately. Hence, civil discourse as though we're face-to-face. Anonymous one-word
