Seems like the truth is somewhere in between. NTVDMx64’s readme says “NTVDM on Win32 uses V86 mode of the CPU for fast code execution which isn't available in x64 long mode.” So there is a real hardware limitation. On the other hand,

UUIDs are 128 bits by definition. So there is no such thing as a “longer UUID”, but if you use that concept then you are indeed “moving away from UUIDs.”

I've no love lost for Python, but in regards to what Python's creator may have said at the beginning, I'm reminded of the Linux announcement -- "just a hobby, won't be big and professional" and "NOT portab

Sad that we can't have nice things and that human lifetime has been wasted on building schemes like DRM; vindicated and maybe a little smug that you knew it was coming and most people don't think about it until it's too late;

This comment, and maybe an adjacent thread that mentioned Richard Stallman, have inspired me to coin the word Stallmanfreude: the mixed feeling one has when Stallman is again proven right.

iPhone users are pretty safe even without supervision and the special profile, right? Don't they have to authenticate (passcode) to allow a forensics tool to connect? Still, I appreciate the idea to put up another barrier.

After just 2 episodes it seems too early to state what the theme is, unless you’ve seen more than the public has.

Uh, ELF is the least of your concerns. I imagine there are native libraries making Linux syscalls. I’ve been toying with ideas about similar approaches to get alternative/updated OS’s on iDevices — use stock kernel for all its device d

Seconded, though it may have been a decade since I tried. I recall the GUI locking up and probably didn't complete the operation. Even ~2 years ago, I had similar issues just trying to move a few hundred messages between folders on the

NOTE: Because the encoding of detailed addresses are site and/or implementation specific `+` or any other encoding is not part of an RFC, and I don't think the existence of subaddressing is either.

Can you ever “burn” the number though? I’d be scared they will require you to receive a SMS token on it later, when they feel like it.

I’m an intermediate Nix user - aren’t pkgs usually passed in as an argument so that the caller can choose them? I sort of accepted that verbose command line as a necessary evil of good design.

When you get “canceled”, it doesn’t matter who you’ve personally “evicted” or not. If people with power over you either agree with the absolutists or are afraid of offending them, you’re going to have a bad time.
