What? I think every car in Europe has this parking clock/disk. If you do not have the clock, then piece of paper and written time is also OK.

My windows start menu is full of PWAs. Actually they are just regular websites and I guess most developers who created them never consider their website PWA. Many of those "PWA" websites were built before PWA term was invented. Th

Same should said to Apple. They release new API but they "forgot" to test when website is added to home screen (PWA). New API passes feature detection but does not work in PWA. iOS and macOS Safari have different bugs also... So y

It is very hard to properly debug iOS bugs also. "a problem repeatedly occurred" and page crashes all the time. Only in Safari iOS 16. Worked in iOS 15. Works even in IE. What kind of bug report can you make out of it?

> Most users will have other browsers installed along with Safari. And they will just switch browser if something doesn't work, they are used to it. HAHAHA. Are you not aware that every browser in iOS is basically wrapper for Safari

Safari is real pain for web apps. "Most powerful" phone runs out of memory, but 10 year old Android can handle same site fine. It was working fine in iOS 15 also. And works even in old IE11. Every iOS release is horror, what will

New wake lock api is broken. Passes feature detection but does not work in home screen. Just like in IE you need to add some extra if’s for Safari version and environment detection.

My most useful PWAs are local websites. City transport, government websites etc. These sites never make their own native app because they cannot afford to maintain those apps. Websites and PWAs are great and cheap compared to apps. But it i

Just because you do not like PWAs does not mean there are not amazing uses of PWAs.

Apple IS crippling webapps. They just released new Wake Lock API, but it only works in browser Safari. It is broken in PWA... QA cannot be that bad they do not test PWAs for new features.

Yeah, but "bugs" happen and this new wake lock only works in browser safari. Does NOT work in PWA. Bug or intentional road block?

It is not only $99. It is $500+ (used) computer also. Cannot use your old PC do develop iOS apps. $99 may be nothing for most HN users, but for 3rd world developer...

I tested some features on my PWAs. New wake lock API does not work in PWA, only works in Safari... Apple is making sure that nobody will use PWAs. https://whatpwacando.today/wake-lock

If you work for a decent sized company then shady extensions for captcha solvers are no go anyway. Most captcha problems are with public vpn providers whose ips are blacklisted. Hard to tell from OP information.

Same here. I went with self hosted version for my personal sites. Simple features and nothing too complex. Mostly I watch real-time stats, monthly page views and daily 404 pages.

Web Push is meh for me, but Screen Wake Lock and Screen Orientation APIs are super! I work with custom web map apps, so it is great that iOS is moving little bit closer to Android. PWA install prompt would be great like in Android. Share -

Very common webkit behaviour. Most powerful iPhone runs out of memory when it has to render too much.

Just use "Pause updates for X days". Install updates once a month and Windows does not have to do it "randomly".

OSM does not like that you hide copyright away to some button. It must be VERY visible all the time. It is not the case always when you show OSM data. I have got very angry letters from OSM enthusiasts about that "hidden copyright"

Not really different. They even share bugs. If Safari team messes up their rendering engine, then iOS update, and it is broken for every iOS browser...
