> Have a tool that limits the results by the number of characters in the domain Currently achievable by editing the Regexp search, though admittedly not user-friendly: ^[^.]{4,8}[.](com)$ (Minimum 4, maximum 8 characters)

The original: http://www.readwriteweb.com/archives/top_10_semantic_web_pro... I find it a little easier to stomach its grammatical errors outside the NYTimes wrapper.

Linkbait aside, HN death rumors come in phases, and the real content is always still far more signal than noise. The anger a few months back re: TechCrunch-heaviness was more shark-jumping in accusation than anything I've noticed lately. Ed

The dot notation itself indicates continuation: win = new Window(). setTitle("A new window"). setForeground(Red). setBackground(White). setMenuBar(fileMenu, viewMenu, helpMenu);

JavaScript can just as easily attain this way of using named parameters: win = Window.new({title: "A new window", foreground: Red, background: White, menuBar: [fileMenu, viewMe

Libertarian beliefs do not presuppose a lack of Obama support.

I do as much browsing in WebKit as possible. Heroku does not support WebKit and till it does I cannot spend too much time with it.

"[39.6 per cent] is what it would be under Obama's proposal, what it was under President Clinton, and, for that matter, what it will be after 2010 if President Bush's tax cuts expire on schedule." "During the 2000 campaign, on MSNBC's 'Hard

Comments are on a per-line, per-commit basis. No aggregate per-file means that readers are less likely to follow a thread.

MRI has been replaced with YARV, which is sometimes much, much faster, and sometimes a little bit slower. With JRuby, MacRuby, Gemstone, and other things in the pipeline, there are plenty of choices to go around.

That screencast is for RubyCocoa, a bridge. MacRuby is a native implementation of Ruby in Objective C.

Love it! My only suggestion is to check the hoverstate style for the bookmarklet. A normally resized browser window completely hides the arrow.

Google and Craigslist are minimalist relics that do a job and do it well. They're too plain to be _ugly_. MySpace is popular with the same personalizing crowd that would put stickers on their MacBooks.

How does it compare with SquirrelFish? Edit: Ah, Resig briefly suggests an answer here: http://ejohn.org/blog/tracemonkey/#comment-319458 > Well, considering that Squirrelfish was "only" 46% faster than Firefox 3 at the SunSpider test

No one has to eat the early-bird special because they get a good night's sleep. Listen to your individual body, not the generalized recommendations of others. A normal 10pm bedtime does not preclude late nights now and then, anyhow.

Except without the help of mnemonics. Passwords should just be long and easy to remember. ILoveEating2Baguettes!InTheSpringtime is going to be better than D72gfD@1.

Yes, this argument can be made, but when someone tries to vouch for Microsoft's choice of language by describing the fact that you can "_start_ to _shut down_" your computer. But, if you argue for semantics, semantics are still semantics. Y

140 characters is not enough space for a URL and commentary. You end up getting things like this: http://yooplace.com/thread/seths-blog-like-your-hair-is-on-f... Each of these "comments" works more like an upvote than anything else.
