You're thinking too literally. There's no reason for the video to be digitally encoded or transmitted. This is a microcopter, but larger ones can carry full size cameras: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsqAoELpmFQ

Correct on the first two points, but larger hobby UAVs can be flown FPV at a range of several kilometers. Not legally in many western countries countries, but then norm is harming people. Edit: Line of site restrictions, maximum heights, an

That thing? Not a chance. The motors have no power, and the props virtually no inertia. A newborn pinkie would stop it in its tracks. A full size quad, hex or octo on the other hand can do some serious damage, from serious cuts to digit red

As with microcopters, there are plenty of duff microquads on the market, but the Hubsan X4 (google it) is easy to fly, and very durable, and a cheap way to get into the hobby at about $50-60.

With a megalomaniac leader who has already dispatched two key developers, setting the project back months in the process? I suggest you don't. Instead, check out the http://diydrones.com site founded by former Wired editor Chris Anderson,

You may believe reinstalling the OS is enough I made no such claim, but verifying bios and firmware signatures (and indeed detecting changes when they happen), and reinstalling them at scale is not a major challenge with a well managed IT

Fantastic job on the track editing UI! The thing I missed from the Explore & Community pages is a progress bar for the currently playing track. I really wanted to see how long the track was, how far through I am, and maybe skip forward

The BBC has missed the real story, which is that as a result of all the publicity, Martha has raised over £43,000 and climbing[1] in less than 2 4hours for her nominated charity "Mary's Meals" which provides school meals for 600,000 childre

Part of this attack bears a certain resemblance to the recent Bitcoinica compromise, in that, from what I understand, they were also forwarding admin emails to personal accounts, one of which was compromised leading to the attacker gaining

Is flaw # 5 (or #1 depending on how you look at it) not having two-factor auth on the personal account? Or does account recovery by-pass two-factor auth by design?

A tangential use (but not the original design intent) is to put a padlock on the plug to prevent it being plugged for safety reasons. (Think power tools, high temperature devices etc).

Nope - the diagram on that page shows every current rating of NEMA plug with an earth pin at the bottom. I call bullshit on the whole "earth pin position as a safety measure" debate anyway. Copper wiring of any substance is physically to ri

Or rather both - individual circuits have a current limiting circuit breaker in addition to a master RCD across multiple circuits.

" There's 3 prongs arranged in a triangle, each of equal length" No, the earth pin is noticeably longer. This serves two purposes - first, to ground the device being plugged in before it is live; second, to retract the mechanical barriers t

Looks interesting - the biggest shame is that, thanks to the closed nature of iOS, it won't be possible to make this an input device for other apps without each app having to develop to it specifically (assuming there's even an SDK).

If you actually read the linked article you'll see it has almost nothing to do with graphic or web design, but rather digital design is used as a less highbrow synonym for "information architecture".
