Lol. This was kind of a joke, but it's true. It only applies to sites that have viral content in nature. Basic formula: Create (or find) some pictures, videos, etc that are extremely viral. Submit them to StumbleUpon (or have a friend do i

That one web-based MS-Word knockoff startup used ASP.Net (no offense intended, they were the best in the space) - eventually they were bought by Google. MySpace also uses "MSFT technology". I'm personally not one to hate. If you can get y

That got me for a while too when I was first learning Rails (the what does "save" do exactly issue). Personally I prefer letting a framework do its thing and make intelligent defaults, that can hopefully be overridden (usually the case in R

I would upmod this but I'd be afraid even more non-hacker friends would bug me. To be honest -- I'd be scared of any incredibly bright individual (even who went to b-school or majored in art history) who was not willing to get their hands d

I think it would also be tricky to explain to your employers why you're working on a startup on the side. Was your name featured on TechCrunch, or just a URL? I've tried doing "anonymous" startups under pseudonyms, it's hard to be taken ser

I went on hiatus from a job over a month ago. Now I'm back looking to join a cool RoR startup =) I have some cash reserves; not enough to live off of in SF for many months.

Definitely seems like something worth taking a look at. "all of twitter's traffic on 2 machines?" - how did you come up with that number? Sounds reeeally fuzzy to me. One day all these webapp frameworks should just have a good old-fashion
