If I am reading anything worthwhile, I will usually be taking notes and looking stuff up every page or two, or pausing to make sure I really understood some concept, so I'm not sure speed reading would help much

Or read blogs by military strategists/economists/scientists that have some actual knowledge of the stuff they are writing about, rather than a bunch of ignorant journalist types.

Diogenes Laertius cannot really be described as a peer of Pythagoras, as Pythagoras lived in the 6th century BC, long before anything Roman might be considered a peer to anything Greek, and Diogenes Laertius in the 3rd century AD.

I said nothing about mutual respect: I was merely comparing the pro-ISIS propaganda effects of "they won't let Muslims into country X", and "the Muslims in country X are under continuous police surveillance".

Banning Muslims from entering the US is probably better from the alienation perspective than letting large numbers of them in, and then having to police them heavily to prevent attacks like the above

There was a lot of deservedly forgotten popular music from back then too, though. There is every chance that Kardashian will fall into that category.

How about wrapping the return value in a templated error class that the caller has to explicitly unwrap with an error handler to be able to use?

It is important to remember as much history as possible, since it gives us an understanding of the range of human activity, and the outcomes of pursuing particular policies. The mistake is to take it personally.

I made no such claim: you claimed that integration had failed, and I asked if you had any solutions, while pointing out how why previous methods of integration of foreign populations might no longer work. So I guess it comes down to a quest
