Well, they wouldn't, unfortunately. But I guess if having an enterprise version that doesn't auto-update means that more people are going to get to use it, then that's a Good Thing.

I'd just be happy to be able to use it at all at work. Our organisation blocks it because, apparently, 'it sends a lot of data back to Google.' I have no idea if this is true or not.

That's a real shame. Maybe it was up to individual schools how much they bought into it. I was amongst the last generation of people to take 'O' levels (ISTR that GCSEs came in two years after me?), and our school had compute

I'm in the same position, and in fact started a project/blog to try and force myself to learn about the 'newer' features that had passed me by. Like many of my personal projects, I kind of ran out of steam, but maybe I&#

Bought ours on Saturday, and excitedly asked Siri to play some David Bowie when I got it home and set up... It just displayed a list of films that he'd acted in!

I'm based in the UK, and was assuming - perhaps incorrectly - that many of the commenters that weren't bothered by the word 'retard' were based in the US, where I believe that word has less of a stigma. I honestly don&#x

I actually find it slightly depressing how many people here don't find it offensive, and are comfortable with it. Maybe it's a US vs. UK thing? Many people in the sixties said 'coon' or 'spade,' and many peop

I can't be the only person why misread the title and got excited thinking they'd see a schematic or design notes for the original BBC Micro...

I use iVolume - http://www.mani.de/en/ivolume/ - with iTunes on a Mac as an attempt to solve the loudness problem, and it seems to work quite well to my untrained ears.

That's one of the main reasons I enjoy programming in C#/.NET. The fact that there are, as far as I'm concerned, a solid set of de facto libraries without having to hunt around for third-party ones somehow makes me feel warm
