Wow I love the design of this site. Really hit some right notes for me. If you’re going to talk about reviving the ”old web” on hn, please follow through and reach for the originality level of this. So many thoughtful details.

Git is an interesting case in its obscure ergonomics. Maybe Linus was right in that for his initial user target group that turned into advocates, algorithmic elegance was a more important quality, so git won regardless of ergonomics for wi

Yes. Arguably because of the organisational cost of maintaining both a web version (which they arguably need) and a native windows version (which they arguably don’t need).

Yeah, as someone who has gained a lot of interaction skills by playing with the constructivist learning ennvironment called the enneagram, I can attest that it much resembles behaviour characteristic of certain enneatypes.

And yet, even ”knowing about the working of the business” is different from actually understanding user needs at UI level, which involves a lot more variables. The single most valuable tool is user testing. However it really takes quite a f

I like your clarity about personal responsibility, but it might also help to remember that human capacity for self-regulation isn’t uniform. We all grow through developmental stages and carry traits that shape how we handle influence, impul

”The 15.18.5 update is also having an adverse reaction to sideloaded books. If you deliver a book using Send by Email or copy it to your computer via USB, a critical issue may arise, where a pop-up appears with an ‘Invalid ASIN‘ number. The

It’s wild they do not talk about accountability features for the ai at all. I.e how do I even know if it has hallucinated if it can do anything anywhere in the workspace?

In combination with https://docs.hyperclay.com/docs/docs-tldr-paste-in-llm/ it could be used to build a lightweight offline configuration editor, for instance.

I have taken a glance, the integration between documents and db tables is what makes notion relevant for me in this space though and i don’t see how airtable competes.

Yep. Notion databases are also the best implementation seamless of ux I’ve seen for relational databases for end users. It could probably be made even smoother but I cannot imagine obsidian being competitive, having used it. Just too much h

Thanks for your respectful response. To me it seems that developer/tinkerer types strongly live in an echo chamber. Of course we are both speculating here, but to me it seems that's exacly where apple derives its market value. By

Yes. Devs tend to want to scratch their own itch, instead of the itch of 90% of the population. I’m a developer (fullstack, conceptual modeling, db, architecture, c++/qt, php, python, cs degree) who is trained in UX too and using windo

That’s really clumsy ux wise (scrollbars, surrounding content on nocodb page probably). I’d need a deeper integration i.e ability to link to rows directly at a minimum using @ like in notion without looking up row url.
