Write 20 lines of code, ride the hype/sentiments, make some quick bucks and move on ... What's this app going to prove or disprove? How close is the result of this app going to be to the real one? Is there any justification behind spending

BTW, one more service: BudURL.com Its awesome. Actually its got all the features that cli.gs (the best of 5 you have reported) has, and on the top, it lets you create custom URL like budurl.com/ycombinator than a random letters. 2nd big adv

I don't hear attacks like those mentioned in this article nowadays, prolly because of 1) widespread usage of FF/Thunderbird (IE/Outlook is still in the map thanks to BIG corporates) 2) More Macs 3) Hackers have been force-civilized at a c

I clicked on this link to read about copycats related to startup, but they are just talking about everyone's fav rivalry, MS vs Apple. Not too much interest there. However, I would like to know what you guys think of copycats of web feature

We have the entire nation, TV networks talking about it 24x7 (sick of it) - don't need it this forum.

Congrats! In the time of Sequoia presentation, recession and YC rejection, we need to hear other success stories like yours to keep ourselves focused! PG/YC are Good, not God!

If you think 29/31 is old - what about me? 37? I am doomed, LOL! Somewhere in his essays, PG mentioned that startups are achievable within 21 to 38 yrs of age. So I was thinking this is my last chance - what the heck? I will still do it, be

On another note, I have written a small FF searchplugin util to find me publicly available mp3 thru Google, I use Google's suggest/autocomplete on it to find the exact title of the song, and then do search. I tend to agree with mechanical_f

Thanks for giving the shortcut to the search box - now is there another keyb shortcut to choose a specific search engine, like Amazon or eBay from the dropdown?

Wikipedia doesn't know everything, but Google does (like answers to some issues I may be having with Rails or mysql with some specific error mesg)! I respectfully disagree with you.

I would be really surprised if anyone, I repeat 'Anyone', in this forum has an aol.com ID! So this news is pointless - who cares what they change it to, its still 'lipstick on a pig'!

One more point: Found out today that, you can redirect using some service (bit.ly for one) and get your traffic tracked! And one of them (decenturl.com) make a meaningful url instead of tinyurl.com/sUw7_gKj. I think these are nice value add

Most of these services create a permalink, but they should offer a choice. Sometimes I create a temp link, which I don't need afterwards. Why can't they let me reuse the same URL and or just let me delete it? I don't want something of no us

Nope .. they haven't! Yea, they are expensive, but they are way more capable than Corel Paint Shop Pro or GIMP. For a design professional, there is hardly another choice. And if you are not (a design pro), then you can always buy Photoshop

Actually, I would hate to see Apple in MS position. Let it remain small(er), yet churn out innovative, compelling products as they have been doing in past few years, and remain profitable!

I don't necessarily think PG is all about making money. In fact in a recent London talk ( http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/142733/Audio/Lectures/future_of_w... ), he talks more about hackers' freedom. Hackers are animals shackled in corporate zoo

Probably getting a designer from eLance/Craigslist may be relatively easier, but finding a guy to do overall UX design may be hard to find. I am looking for one myself, without any luck.
