I spend more time than I should in the churning/FF communities (all of which are centered around FlyerTalk). It's fun. Ben's blog is one of the few I follow, most aren't that great. Frequent Miler is a solid resource,

/r/churning isn't a great resource, to be frank. Flyertalk is far and away superior.

Seems like credit card records were compromised as well. Harder to fake a name with those (though someone could've used a prepaid Visa card or the like).

But do pension funds actually have that much invested in that asset class? Around $48 billion went into VC in 2014 but in the US alone there is $18 trillion in pension assets.

I think most people know if they're linking to paywalled content. Knowing what the Great Firewall is blocking today is not nearly as simple. I, for one, have no clue if The Economist is blocked in China or not.

Other than a few top posts, our bureaucracy is non-partisan and doesn't change with the whims of the White House.

ElasticSearch is trivial to set up, especially if we're talking about a small project like a hackathon. It's not without its problems but ES's first-fifteen-minutes story is pretty good.

Not really. Frequent fliers know you can redeem United miles for flights on any *A carrier.

Why would they need to get it from United when the government already has it through TSA SecureFlight?

Not quite. If the original collection is modified, the "immutable" view will reflect that change. Plus, you can't statically know if the collection you're passed is immutable or not. Trying to modify it will just blow

Java doesn't have immutable collections in its standard library. If if a java.util.* collection is declared final, you can still modify its contents.

Regardless of the actual numbers (I have no idea what they are), I wouldn't expect the CEO of Reddit to effectively announce to prospective advertisers that their user base was a bunch of racists.
