I would like to thank everyone for contributing. There are way too many approaches to try them all, but my further research led me to the following conclusion: I'm going to start with trying Windows XP on either VMWare Player or qe

Yeah thank you... I already thought of buying an used old WinXP Notebook for 45 Bucks or so, but then I thought: If this thing breaks after a while I must invest another 45 bucks and so on... And I have so much stuff laying around, I would

I'm not a fan of Hyper-V... in the past I killed a whole system just by installing it as windows component. But maybe as a last resort :-) Thanks.

Seems like WinXP in Qemu is the way... I would prefer a ready to use image, but I could also run this. Got an old licence here :-)

You could try to perform a silence detection, if there is a silence after every song. https://stackoverflow.com/questions/42507879/how-to-detect-t... ffmpeg -i audio.mp3 -af silencedetect=n=-50dB:d=0.5 -f null

That is funny. For audio books I'm currently working on an `epub` command for `tone` which will be able to extract text from `epub` files, e.g.: tone epub --format="markdown" --extract-sentences --one-file-per-chapter out

There is also https://www.vorleser.net/ for german users. In case you want to take it a step further, you could convert the `mp3`s to `m4b` format (one file per audio book), which internally uses an `mp4` container aac code

I would suggest you to skip all these "cheap" solutions and get a used Dell T20 with a Xeon v3 and 16GB ECC Ram... it is about 100 bucks and way more powerful than any small solution, and 33watts idle power consumption with 2 10TB

I personally prefer to self host Proxmox with ZFS. It is ready for enterprise use and can be easily backed up via external drives. There is even a Raspberry Port ( https://github.com/pimox/pimox7 ), but I would never use
