The difference being that Lenovo did it at the firmware level. Even if you reinstalled Windows from scratch, the malware would still be installed.

A couple of observations: 1. To the outside world, a LARPer might be indistinguishable from someone that actually needs perfect opsec. Maybe that LARPer in the coffee shop is Ross Ulbricht. 2. If one day you actually need real encryption

I had a mastodon.social account but deleted it after the admin power tripped and started to ban instances he didn't like.

We can't blame ActivityPub, but we can blame the maintainers of Mastodon, as their website has a list of instances excluding the ones they don't like.

"I know what is best for you and me, so I'll force you to make the chargers I want" I don't think Apple are the biggest assholes in this situation.

I like to think that I have "hardware acceleration" for typing on QWERTY keyboards because I am so used to it that I do it unconsciously. But when I smoke weed, I have to actively think about the position of keys in the keyboard i

A website is pretty different from the word processor that your OS comes with. Ads in a word processor are like ads in your house's wall. Ads in a website are like ads in a football stadium.
