A lot of energy is currently used for low-utility purposes (e.g. flying for meetings). There are also major opportunities for reduce-reuse-recycle that would not result in significant decreases in quality of life. I'm all for aiming fo

I agree. I would say that Erlang goes ~80% of the way compared to Haskell's type system and the last 20% really matter, to the point that in many cases I find myself not really using Erlang's (optional) type system at all. Better

Do you have recommendations on where to find this stuff? I agree that there seems to be a lot of interesting work going on and the ideas of decentralized finance have a lot of potential. At the moment it really is hard to cut through the no

Even though mining doesn't directly drive up the price of that GPU, it does do so indirectly. Miners push gamers out of the new GPU market so the gamers go elsewhere. And old GPUs can be pretty valuable for making it through the year (

I haven't heard of Axios before - how would you characterize it? Looking at the website I can't quite tell if it's an aggregator or how they generate content, and if there is any particular leaning to what they host.

I do think it's a market forces issue. But it's an issue where forces don't align with societal value (which I think is an extremely common problem in the modern economy). Back when musicians/publishers had real leverage

When it comes to formal proofs of code, once you have a proof it is generally straightforward to verify (in the same way that you could for example evaluate a boolean expression). The problem is in finding the proofs - that's what requ
