Why the embedded SVG hate? A simple icon should be just a few hundred bytes, is reusable, and styleable with CSS. It's not the right fit 100% of the time, but I think it's a very nice feature to have.

Depending on the country, there might be a reciprocal agreement that allows driving with your state license. I've been a few places where that's the case, and a couple others where the car rental place actually validated the IDP.

I'm not completely familiar with the details and haven't done it myself, but what's stopping you from selling non-restrictive licenses to a GPL project? Can't you just etch out an exception for each customer?

It advertises interpreter size and RAM requirements front and center on the homepage, so I assume that's the main draw. I'm not super familiar with embedded Lua but I believe it to require at least an order of magnitude more RAM a

I don't think the allure of Eastern medicine has much to do with a feeling that it's ancient or secret. It's pretty normal here in Taiwan to go to a TCM clinic here in Taiwan for various treatments, including stress. The prac

The Android fee is only $25, but in my experience everything around the submission process is at least 4x worse, so it evens out. At least Apple has humans doing review and support.

It does alright with Rust, but you can't assume it works as intended if it compiles successfully. The issue with current AI when solving complex or large scale coding problems is usually not syntax, it's logical issues and poor ab

Could that be an AWS operational issue, and not related to Valkey? I only run redis myself but wouldn't immediately place blame on Valkey if that happened.

I haven't done it myself, but it seems possible with Podman or LXC containers. There's systemd-nspawn, too.

What do you mean? I use AI plenty and am aware of the capabilities. AI will give good surface level advice and sometimes point to decent sources. If I'm looking for e.g. a good hike in a specific area near me, I know the blogs that wil

That's true. I'm not anti AI or anything, I use it for plenty of things where search falls short or has decayed due to SEO spam I guess it comes down to knowing where to find valuable information. If you already have known qualit

I haven't been able to get much practical travel advice from AI yet, any tips? For stuff like hiking routes, permitting, local cuisine, etc. I don't think it can replace a good blog from an experienced person at this point.

It's a bit of a tangent and I agree with your point, but wanted to note that for one project our e2e tests went from ~40 min to less than 10, just by moving from Cypress to Playwright. You can go pretty far with Playwright and a couple

The AIs that I use will definitely not do anything, and it the limits are not always obvious without a lot of prodding. I'm fine with ditching the car analogy though.

by sampullman 1y ago
I'm not sure if the analogy fits. I would say AI is more like a fast car that turns the wrong way every couple of blocks, or a car that randomly refuses to go on certain roads. Is it still a useful mode of transportation? Sometimes, bu
