It’s just terminology from acting. Wouldn’t read too much into it. Getting annoyed by that is like being upset you have a team in your org called HR. “Human Resources? Am I just a unit of raw material to be put through the factory?!”

Wrote lots of C once. It’s useful to me in the sense that I comfortably reach for language interfaces to the C FFI or something like JNI but I think learning a functional language contributed more to my development than C ever did.

Besides I know they’ve sacrificed speed at the altar of correctness many times. My own renderer actually is much faster than theirs though at the price of a mild incorrectness: it discards all input and draws nothing.

Haha, that’s true. Those first few years are really valuable. I’ll happily hire from twenty companies’ just-no-longer-junior hires than from fresh grads. Those guys will bring twenty new perspectives whereas the new grads will be riffs off
