totally the same here. i cannot grasp why browsers abandoned the vertical-tab ui. is there something difficult about it?

avm is like the apple of home-networking. hardware stats and software features are severely behind the curve but it mostly just works and you dont really need those features anyway. certainly not prosumer

FritzBox is way better than isp-provided or TP-Link-like boxes but certainly not pro-anything (no vlans or ingress-qos, guest-wifi but no real multi-ssid, severely limited dns-customization ...)

as the name implies, that company made a ruckus in the prosumer segment like ubiquiti but since bought by Arris is declining same same (like you only get FW updates with registration).

i have had different hardware running openwrt and never experienced problems regarding to multiple ssids... maybe you have a known-bad hardware in regards to driver support, but that is absolutely not to be expected.

you dont even need to download it because most players can access an url just fine. mpv with ytdl integration is my goto for viewing sites that just wont give users access to the video-url (youtube/twitch/vimeo...)

maybe growing up with PAL is hampering my expectations here, but imo 1GB/hour in h264 looks just fine whereas same size HEVEC, while having supperior contrast and sharpness, almost always has fucked up colors so i try to avoid it. also

probably because h264 en-/decoding is supported in hardware even on dated platforms

this! h264 is the most widely supported codec to decode in hardware, so the inclusion of a software decoder in the browser is kinda moot.

e2e encryption is mostly moot considering neither the client-application nor -device are really trustworthy. then there is the problem with push-notifications passing throu either google or apple as well as device-backups which both hand ov

> never let people SSH in with a password this seems to be a recent cargo cult rooted in the fact that people tend to choose weak passwords and/or reuse them, but there is technically nothing wrong about it and the opensshd defaults

it's not nothing if most whatsapp groups contain at least one member that gives an un-ecrypted archive to google. sure it's stated in the fine print, but nontheless most ppl argue that whatsapp is "private because encryption
