I think I'll just stick to simple games on iOS/iPadOS or just use my Nintendo Switch. These anti-cheat systems are far too invasive for my liking. I also worry about those things being hacked! The last time i built a gaming pc was

I’m at the point to tell people (friends, neighbors, fellow parents, family, ie, not HN readers) to prolong the life of their existing computers and install what I think is the easiest windows equivalent on their computers: kubuntu. Gnome i

My use case for minio was simply to test out uploading things to s3 for work related apps.. I loved that web ui too. Looks like i'm gonna give seaweedfs a whirl instead of hunting down the docker image and sha of the last pre-enshittif

I've been a GitHub user since the very early days. I had a beta invite to the service. I really wish they didn't swap out the FE for a React FE. They need to start rolling back some of their most recent changes. I mean, if they wa

I’ve been using vim and now neovim for 15 years. Before that I was using TextMate. I’ve hand written my own config. I used Janus by Carlhuda, SolarVim, and now I’m on lazyvim because Folke is a goddamn wizard and I want to spend more time g

I was honestly surprised the University of Minnesota didn’t part ways with the teacher and students who performed this bullshit research. This level of malfeasance strikes me as something akin to plagiarism for a professional writer.

I wondered when Apple was going to do this. Seemed inevitable when Final Cut Pro on the iPad had a subscription, I think. I hope I can still use the non subscription version of Pixelmator pro I bought

This rebrand will be liked less than when Gap, Cracker Barrel and Jaguar introduced new logos. At this rate I wouldn’t put it past MSFT to rename the company and all products Copilot. Just Copilot.

This looks fairly cool. If I had the production need for this, I’d definitely consider this. I paired with Claude and simply added nats.c to the zig buildup system for my zig project at work. It works like a charm.

Wow. This is an incredible article that tracks just about everything I’ve done with the web over the past 30 years. I started with BbEdit and Adobe PageMill, then went to dreamweaver for Lamp.

As someone who is diving deep into Zig, I’m actually going to evaluate all this (and compare this to Ziglings) or the Zig track on Exercism.

I’ve been using Linux on and off for the past two weeks for software dev. Tried Omarchy, but tiling managers aren’t my cup of tea. I tried gnome, but it felt like I was using an iPad at first. Put on some extensions, but it still didn’t fee

This is a good first start. One less moving part. They should match caddy for feature parity on this, and also add dns01 challenges as well. I'm not using nginx these days because of this.
