The article seems to confirm that the issue is not, in fact, an inability to produce a ballpoint pen (tip). Rather, they could not produce a competitive high-end one: "A year ago Premier Li Keqiang went on national television and bemoa

Biomass is actually listed as a separate category (at least on the BBC report I linked). Coal progress looks great but feels contradictory with the New Scientist link. Not a lot of people talking about the large gas dependency...

These seem like excellent resources! It's still odd that the UK has been criticised for coal subsidies and the transparency around this if coal has shrunk so dramatically and even imports are relatively small.

I don't know what is going on in the UK: * On the one hand, supposedly one of the best users of clean energy ( https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-48711649 ). Side question: where does it all come from? T

Yeah, this is pretty weird and a little scary. I wonder if they are using it as a negotiating tactic - get offered a super low price and then give that price to Airbus to match? Airbus have already enthusiastically said they will bid on thi

Google isn’t really an authority. The Google rate could be bad and MasterCard 0.1% worse. They could be from different times. Also, the MasterCard site says indicative only - if I convert the amount back again, MasterCard claims they are gi

I don't know what the MasterCard exchange rate is. However, someone recently told me regarding their credit card: "they give me the wholesale exchange rate, which is great". It turned out not to be so great (~1% wide market).

You say “caught red handed” and other accusatory statements. The article says they had announced how (encrypted, anonymised) and why (to provide more accurate location information to users) before it was “discovered”. It doesn’t really appe

A sibling comment suggests that the insulation-on-the-inside approach (for cellars, at least) has been found to be wrong anyway for moisture-on-the-inside.

Some people switch programming languages often. Exponentiation operators are common, both caret and double star are used. It does not seem amusing (surprising?) to me. On the other hand, piping and redirection are relatively uncommon outsid

Contract law and international arbitration do exist though. The ultimate inability to enforce seems like it is a separate issue and not limited to bilateral contracts - nation states are more powerful than international courts in many cases
