100000% on the size of the trackpad. It's comically, needlessly large. The size of the 2012 generation's trackpad is the perfect size — big enough for your fingers to find it, small enough to barely even need palm rejection.

Something I follow now, but didn’t until I was 35 or so: rise early. A lot of very good things follow from just doing this.

LOVE Am radio. Coincides with some of the best times in my life. I love it for the amazing analog quality. #1 feature I think would be strength of signal. Hand in hand with this would be how you select a frequency. If I were to make one com

It really comes down to what you can live with. Does the desire to have a new computer really weigh on you? Then just work towards getting it. Does saving the money matter more? Then don't get it. My wife works happily away on her 2011

Is it frontend or backend problems that keep you awake in the half hour or so before you fall asleep? Which gets you out of bed early the next morning? Truly think about this, and I think you'll have your answer. There's lots of j

I would suggest there's a good chance you don't have a good picture of your floor / ceiling. I'd ask around as much as humanly possible to find what these numbers roughly are. It's much harder to move up in salary a

Hard to disagree there. I still love my 2014 MBP, but wouldn't touch the new ones with a 10' pole. My 2014 still gets used most days, but the battery is shot, it gets RED hot, and has 16gb of ram max. Given the options a year ago,

Great mice but I’m surprised no one has mentioned weight. The master 3 is 141g! That’s a brick! I’ve been hunting for a mouse with this kind of scroll wheel that was less than 90g or so forever. 141g would kill my arm in a few hours.

Python is one of the (the?) big languages I still regret not playing with yet. PHP has served me well enough, and my brief but romantic foray into Ruby a few years back gave me some perspective and nostalgia. I don’t have a lot of time for

I’m on the extroverted end of things but I think principles are the same. First though: some people are simply hard to talk to. They just don’t give you anything back. If you run into these people, don’t beat yourself up over it. Just give

Also should say that the benefit is 100% ergonomic for me. I can’t type any faster now than before. I’m at exactly the same speed I’d say.

Disagree with a lot here. I could touch type before switching to Dvorak, but it’s still been very much worthwhile. Just trying out a single sentence in QWERTY now the difference is stark to me. My fingers move so much. With Dvorak I find th

How / why are desktops so much better? Wondering what was it that made that new iMac I bought so much better than this 2015 MBP with just half the ram. Any ideas?

by saltcod 9y ago
Surprises me that a 2015 MBP is still passable for him cpu-wise. I briefly replaced my 2014 MBP with a 2017 iMac, citing the 16GB ram ceiling as my primary issue. I ordered the iMac from Apple with 8GB of ram and ordered an additional 16GB

I use the command line all day every day. I also use SourceTree, however, maybe 3-4 times a day to see something visually (to commit a hunk, to quickly add individual files to a commit, etc). I'm intermediate with git at best. I don&#x
