when was the last time a phone got popular because it was being sold without a contract? most people are not able to afford it. also, it reduces the saleability of the device to the carrier. of course, this is a biz perspective.

it's rather complicated to actually work out these deals. it's not as simple as just deciding that you want to do it or not. also, palm is in pretty dire financial situation, which makes things even harder.

just signed up. they have a pretty interesting model. they let you upload your purchased music and play it. songs are just 79c, as opposed to 1.29 at itunes.

my guess is that they've run this calculation and have decided against it. or there are top level execs that are in charge of the marketing divisions who don't want to lose jobs and learn something new.

my guess is that once their library of apps is a bit more useful and full, they'll apply their search method to it. this will essentially give you the relevant apps when you look for something.

don't use the web album uploader; use picasa to manage your photos. it's as easy as clicking a button if you are using picasa 3.0.
