I couldn't disagree more that thinking harder about where things belong is a benefit of OOP: it's an entirely unnecessary tax caused by the requirement to wrap every symbol in a class. Another aspect of this is unnecessary effort

At a high level, I accept Shuttleworth's apology. I do not believe that it is a company policy to use trademark law to silence complaints. Some nuances: > Judge the policy. In this case Canonical has a trademark > policy that en

Headline is inaccurate (the Nexus 5 has 4.4 but doesn't use ART by default) and the article author doesn't understand the relationship between interpreters and JIT. Not front page material.

I found it frustrating to play with a touchpad. I often accidentally started a click-drag or highlight instead of clicking a button. It would probably be ok with a mouse instead.

Yes, this was annoying enough that I eventually stopped. Two suggestions: 1) Add keyboard shortcuts, make them discoverable via an underlined character 2) increase the amount of space between the buttons so the tooltips appear over whitespa

I used that app heavily, and it certainly wasn't perfect. It had annoying bugs/behavior; some that I remember: (1) confusing vertical scrolls with horizontal swipes; (2) going back to the top of a story after rotating the screen;

The GIFs total 30MB (!), but as videos[1] they're 1-2MB total. That's a 15x-30x reduction in size. Surely that large of a reduction in bandwidth and improvement in user experience is worth it? [1] To get the frames of the GIFs: fo

The equivalent to || and && are the commands "or" and "and.": $cmd1 && $cmd2 || $cmd3 becomes $cmd1; and $cmd2; or $cmd3; i.e., they're just commands that inspect $status and run their arguments.
